About Sarah
I'm a classically trained actor with a wide range of experience in theatre; I love performance, and acting coaching, and one of my greatest joys is seeing my students grow in their performance skills, not just their innate talents. My mentor has always said that while some people are naturally talented actors, 90% of working actors have done just that: put in the work. I'm really excited to work alongside you!

I'm a former college professor with two terminal degrees in theatre - one of those in a program specifically focusing on Early Modern or Renaissance texts heavily focused on Shakespeare. I have performed regionally in the United States, and also abroad at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
I love acting coaching - helping an actor find and harness their own humanity to focus it onstage through a character.
I tend to start with text analysis work, both in classical and modern pieces - what are the literary elements of this piece? Is the writer using poetic meter or rhyme? How has the writer constructed this speech and what does that tell us about this character?
From there, we'll move on to character motivation, actions, tactics and more - what does this character want and how will they get it? We'll try multiple options, and see what fits your version of this character, not what I or someone else would bring, because your uniqueness is what will bring that spark onstage.
Finally, we'll polish - how do we tie these all together? What changes will we discover once we've put all these elements together, and how does that affect the arc of this speech or scene?
I love both helping actors create audition packages - contrasting monologues that go well together to show off your range - and in providing helpful feedback on actor resumes! I'm happy to prep auditions for bachelor's or master's level programs with you, but also if you just feel you need a brush up on some Shakespeare or contemporary playwrights, or a coach to give you feedback on a piece you've been working and haven't quite sorted, feel free to reach out!
Let me help you get out there and get the roles you were born to play!
