About Jae

I’m a professional vocalist, songwriter, and voice teacher with over a decade of teaching experience. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, cum laude, from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee and have just completed a Master of Arts in Voice Pedagogy at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David through the Voice Study Centre, with a focus on voice science, cross-genre pedagogy, and gender-affirming voice techniques.

As a performer, I’ve appeared in opera, contemporary classical, and interdisciplinary productions, and my solo show Homeward Bound: a Korean Adoptee Exploring the Longing for Belonging, has premiered to sold-out audiences in New York and Boston. I bring that professional performance experience into my teaching, helping singers develop healthy technique, confidence, and an authentic sound across classical, musical theater, and contemporary styles.

About the lesson

I don't believe voice lessons should be about making you sound like someone else.

I want to help you build a voice that is healthy, expressive, confident, and uniquely yours. Voice is one of the key markers of identity, and I use a holistic, sensory-based approach to helping you sing your truth authentically.

I've spent more than a decade teaching singers while also working professionally as a performer, songwriter, and recording artist. My approach combines evidence-based vocal technique, voice science, performance experience, and work across genres—from classical and musical theater to pop, rock, and original music.

In our lessons, we'll work together to:

* Build a stronger, healthier, more reliable voice
* Expand your range and vocal flexibility
* Develop technique without losing your individuality
* Explore different vocal styles and sounds
* Prepare for auditions, performances, and recordings
* Build confidence and freedom in your singing
* Develop your musicianship and artistry
* Help you connect your voice to the music you actually want to sing

I'm particularly interested in helping singers who have been told they need to fit their voice into a particular box. I don't want to change who you are as a singer—I want to give you more tools to express who you already are.

Whether you're just starting out, preparing for your next audition, returning to singing, or looking to take your artistry to the next level, I'll meet you where you are and help you figure out where you want to go.

Your voice is already yours. Let's find out what it can do.
