About Nancy

I am a figurative artist with a foundation in classical drawing and painting, offering tuition in Drawing Fundamentals and Portraiture using dry mediums such as graphite, charcoal, and pastels.

Passionate about preserving this timeless craft, I am dedicated to teaching the essential principles that are often no longer emphasized in many contemporary art programs. My teaching approach is empathetic and supportive. I guide each student with patience, clarity, and encouragement. Nothing brings me more joy than witnessing their growth, confidence, and artistic achievements.

What we can explore together:

- Mastering the foundations of drawing and painting: line, value, gesture, and perspective
- Bargue copy studies in graphite and charcoal to strengthen your understanding of classical fundamentals
- Portrait and figure drawing in graphite, charcoal, sanguine, and soft pastels
- Focused exercises to deepen your understanding of line, value, form, light, and shadow

Who Are the Lessons For?

Whether you are a complete beginner looking to learn the fundamentals, or an advanced artist hoping to refine and strengthen your technique, lessons are tailored to your level and personal artistic direction.

Lesson Format
- Online or in person (depending on location)
- Private sessions for personalized, one-to-one guidance
- Group classes available—group rates to be discussed based on size and duration

Materials
Materials are not supplied; however, I provide a recommended materials list tailored to the level and medium of each student.

Introductory Conversation
A free introductory conversation is offered to discuss your current skill level, your goals, and how we can structure a plan to help you achieve them.

Languages:
To make learning more accessible and enjoyable, I teach in English, Spanish, French, and Italian, and I am always happy to help you practise your language skills as part of our lessons.

Structure & Policy:
Lessons are structured to support consistent progress. A 24-hour cancellation policy applies to rescheduling or canceling booked sessions.

NOTE: I do not teach acrylics nor watercolors.

About the lesson

Master the Timeless Techniques of the Old Masters!

I will guide you through the secrets of creating beautiful artwork that you’ll be proud of—all from the comfort of your home.

Our lessons will begin with a conversation about your artistic goals. I will then have you complete a drawing of your choice to assess your current level. From there, I’ll design a personalized plan to help you progress and achieve your ambitions.

While I don’t provide materials, I will give you a detailed list of supplies to purchase.

Whether you're preparing for an exam, looking to refine your skills, or simply want to enjoy the art of drawing and painting, I will tailor the lessons to meet your needs.

I am fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish, so I can adapt my teaching to your preferred language.

My in-person lessons are priced at £25 per hour. If located in East Lothian, that will be a £10 fee to pay for the journey. For example, a 2-hour session would be £60 (£50 for the lesson + £10 for travel).
