About Joshua
Joshua is a classically trained flautist who has been playing the flute for 12 years. He achieved the LTCL Diploma in Flute Performance, a Level 6 UK qualification, at just the age of 12, having already gained the ABRSM Flute Grade 8 Distinction at the age of 8. His musical ability has been recognised by leading schools, earning him a full scholarship to study at Diocesan Boys' school in Hong Kong, and a later 50% scholarship offer from another leading secondary school. His musical development has been enriched through lessons with Herman Van Kogelenberg, Principal Flute of the Munich Philharmonic.
Joshua has performed extensively as Principal Flute in multiple orchestras, including the Junior Wind Band of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. As Principal Flute of his school’s symphony orchestra, he participated in international competitions in the Netherlands and Vienna, including the World Music Contest Kerkrade (Gold Award), The 5th International Youth Music Festival II (Gold Band Grand Prix), and the 6th World Orchestra Festival (Gold Medal). He also had the privilege of performing in the world-renowned Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna.
As a soloist, he has won multiple international awards, receiving the Gold Award in both the Manhattan International Young Artists Music Festival and the 9th Singapore Flute Competition (Super Junior Category).

Lessons are offered for beginners wishing to build a strong foundation in flute playing, including posture, breath control and tone production. Lessons typically last 30 minutes and are tailored to each student’s goals. With over 12 years of playing experience and an LTCL Diploma in Flute Performance, Joshua brings both professional training and orchestral experience to his teaching.
