About Mercy
Hi, I’m Mercy! I’m a recent Business and Management graduate with a love for music, creativity and helping people grow in confidence.
I have 10 years of experience teaching piano to students of different ages and abilities, from complete beginners learning their first notes to students preparing for graded exams. I also teach students who simply want to play for enjoyment and build music into their everyday life.
For me, teaching piano is a creative outlet. I enjoy finding different ways to make lessons engaging, whether that’s through creative lesson planning, breaking down tricky concepts in a simple way, or choosing pieces that suit each student’s personality and goals.
I have trained classically in both piano and cello, completing grades up to Grade 8 in each, alongside studying music theory. This allows me to bring structure, musical understanding and professionalism into my lessons, while still keeping them warm, encouraging and relaxed.
I love teaching because it’s so rewarding to see students grow in confidence, develop their ability and realise what they are capable of. My goal is to create a welcoming space where students feel supported, motivated and excited to learn.

- My approach to tutoring is friendly, patient and tailored to each student’s goals. I aim to make lessons enjoyable while also building strong technique, confidence and musical understanding.
- My lessons can focus on exam preparation, music theory, sight-reading, technique, or learning pieces for fun, depending on what the student wants to achieve.
- I adapt my teaching style to suit each learner, whether they are a complete beginner or already have some experience.
- A typical lesson lasts 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the student’s age, level and concentration span.
- I have taught a range of ages and abilities, including students preparing for graded exams as well as those learning recreationally.
- My lessons are suitable for children, teenagers and adults, from beginner level up to intermediate/graded exam level.
