About Luke
I'm Luke. I've been playing guitar for 10 years, with 5 years of formal classical training, plus music theory, ear training, and a stint in an auditioned choir. All the tools you need to go from playing notes to actually making music people want to hear.
I remember exactly what it's like to be a beginner, staring at a fretboard that looks like a math problem. Years of weekly lessons taught me what great teaching actually looks like: clear steps, quick wins, and knowing exactly what to fix first so you improve every single week. That's what you get in my lessons.
I'm also a computer science student at Oregon State, so I teach the way I think: structured, logical, and zero fluff. You'll always know what you're doing, why it works, and what comes next. It's weirdly satisfying, like watching a puzzle click together, except the puzzle is your hands finally doing the thing.
When I'm not teaching, I'm writing my own music. Nothing beats watching a student go from "I could never play that" to playing it loud with the door open. Let's get you there.

Every student comes in with different goals — some want to play their favorite songs, some want proper classical technique, and some just want to finally understand the fretboard. So the first thing we do is figure out what you actually want out of the guitar, and I build your lessons around that.
A typical lesson runs 30 or 60 minutes over Zoom. We'll spend time on technique, work through your current piece or song, and I'll send you a clear, focused practice plan afterward — so you always know exactly what to work on and never waste practice time guessing.
My background is classical, which means I put real emphasis on clean fundamentals: posture, hand position, tone, and reading music if you want to learn it. But lessons don't have to be classical — I'm just as happy teaching acoustic, fingerstyle, or the songs you already love. Along the way I weave in music theory and ear training naturally, so the "why" behind the music comes along with the "how."
I keep things patient and low-pressure. Progress on guitar comes from small consistent wins, not marathon practice sessions, and my job is to make sure you're getting those wins every week.
What you'll need: a guitar (any kind), a device with a camera, and about 20 minutes a day to practice.
