About Justin
I am a ceramicist with over seven years of in depth learning in both wheel and hand built sculpture and vessels. I have experience with the human form both in full and in bust, as well as a multitude of vessel forms, both classic ancient forms as well as my interpretations. I have experience in a wide variety of decorative techniques and finishes that make my creative capacity almost limitless. This knowledge and the curiosity I have is part of what I bring to the learning experience.

I shape my classes to the students needs and allow them to set the goals both per session and overall. Keeping these goals in mind, I then show them the beginnings of several techniques that I think they will be able to use to start shaping their desired objects. Depending on the object and the experience of the student I would choose between slab, coil and pinch, solid, or the wheel for the initial lesson. With a quick foray into each to determine preference I would then go forward with building techniques in the chosen method or methods and move into the middle stages. Once an object is under way, we can begin to discuss finishing techniques to achieve the final desired appearance, and experiment with some of these techniques to test which would look best on their work. If the lesson is long enough, we may finish the item, if not it will be safely stored for them to continue at their leisure.
