About Katelin

My work as a classroom teacher prepared me to create lessons for diverse learners - I am particularly skilled at meeting students where they are and using students' demonstrated progress to accelerate their learning.

I really love working with students who have struggled in math, because I believe that math is a skill anyone can learn. I work with students with very low mastery to help them achieve fluency in skills they find difficult by figuring out where their learning gaps are, teaching those skills and integrating them with the current learning goal.

I have watched past students excel after being convinced they just "weren't good at math."

About the lesson

My philosophy on math comes from my varied background as a musician, business owner and artist. While I hold a Master's Degree in Education in Middle School Mathematics, I believe that math is an essential skill outside the classroom.

In my lessons, I emphasize the real-world use of each skill and whenever possible, I work with students to use math to complete projects centered on their own personal interests.

My lessons are for learners of K-12 math, with special emphasis on Algebra as an essential tool for entrepreneurship and skilled trade.
