About Gabriel

I was fortunate to be mentored by my father, a former collegiate and professional basketball player. From a young age, he shared his wealth of knowledge and passion for the game, helping me build a solid foundation. His guidance not only honed my skills but also instilled a deep love and understanding of basketball, which I now pass on to my own students. Starting young, I thrived in junior competitions and earned spots on state-level teams in Queensland. This experience gave me a keen insight into the local basketball landscape, enhancing my ability to guide players through the game's challenges. I played for Brisbane Grammar School's First V team from Year 8 to Year 10 and later participated in the renowned John Lucas Camp in the USA. Competing against top talent from around the world, including future NBA, CBA, and EuroLeague players, broadened my perspective. Seeking further challenges, I moved to the United States for high school basketball, excelling on the court and earning several accolades, as well as multiple college scholarship offers. After high school, I returned to Australia to train with the Brisbane Bullets and immerse myself in the professional basketball environment. In 2019, I signed a full scholarship with Newman University in Kansas for my freshman year. However, the COVID-19 pandemic brought me back to Australia, where I discovered my true calling in coaching and individual skill development. For the past three years, I have worked as a skills coach, helping players of all ages improve their game. I tailor training programs to meet each player's needs, whether they're beginners learning the basics or advanced players aiming for excellence. I have the privilege of shaping young athletes into formidable basketball players. My coaching philosophy centers on fostering a growth mindset, emphasizing player development, and instilling a genuine love for the game.

About the lesson

As for my training academy, I focus on developing players in terms of their overall skills (ball handling, shooting, passing, moves), their on-court IQ, and their basketball character. I avoid placing players in large groups where personal attention is limited. Instead, I exclusively conduct small group sessions, making sure that each player receives ample one-on-one attention. I also take a tailored approach to each player to ensure the best chance of seeing real growth and improvement. And last but definitely not least, I strive to keep it fun for players, as we all know that is truly what’s most important. Our lessons run for 1 hour, catering to players of all ages.
