About Alexandra

My aim as a psychology tutor is to help students feel more at ease studying their degree. It can be difficult to navigate the different styles of exams and assignments when you are new to them and are trying to balance many different aspects of university life. It is very mentally and physically challenging, especially in first year, so I would like to make that a little easier for my students. I do this by making the process of understanding the work quicker, by explaining what gets a good grade in each style of assessment, creating tailored essay plans which students can use to structure their essays, and emphasising content that is more important to understand well and have good notes on. These small details make a big difference in grades and overall mental stress.

About the lesson

My general lesson structure is to first find out which topics or areas of psychology my students may be struggling with, to be able to help them understand the content and offer them any additional resources that may be helpful.

I then help my students with essays and assignments they have coming up, by preparing well-structured plans for their essays or exam revision.

After they have written their essay I will go over it with them, highlighting any points that need to be developed more or are irrelevant, etc, as well as smoothing over any grammatical errors.

For exams I will go through their notes with them, adding anything of relevance and helping them to create practice questions. I will also go through any practice questions or sample papers they have completed, to help improve their answers.
