About Mallory
I am originally from a small town north of Kansas City, MO. I moved to Garden City, KS to begin my first year of teaching in 2010. I worked for USD 457, Garden City Public Schools, for 8 years. This is my 7th year working for Newman University. I am also married with 2 young children. I completed my undergraduate degree at NWMSU in Maryville, MO, earning a B.S. in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish Education. I completed an ESOL endorsement in 2012 through Newman. I completed my first master's degree in 2015 in K-12 Special Education through FHSU. I finished my second master's degree in curriculum & instruction through Newman in 2016. I am currently working on my PhD through Walden University in Early Childhood Special Education. I prepare my students for success on their licensure exams by focusing on both test-taking strategies and deep content understanding. I integrate exam-aligned practice, formative assessments, and concept-based instruction into our coursework so students gain the knowledge and confidence needed to perform well. In addition to reviewing key standards and frameworks, I emphasize how to apply content in practical teaching scenarios. This dual focus ensures that my students are not only ready to pass their exams, but also well-prepared to create meaningful, accurate, and engaging instruction in their own future classrooms. My goal is to develop reflective educators who understand the “why” behind what they teach.

As a tutor, I focus on building deep conceptual understanding through step-by-step instruction, visual supports, and real-world examples—especially helpful for future teachers preparing for licensure exams or college-level math and STEM courses. My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, often starting with a quick review, followed by guided practice, and ending with independent problem-solving and feedback. I specialize in working with education majors, especially those in teacher prep programs, and I bring both classroom experience and a supportive, encouraging approach that builds confidence and skills.
