About Darren
Darren earned a bachelor's degree in music from University of North Texas and a master's degree in music from New York University. He has performed professionally as an orchestral percussionist at Carnegie Hall, as a marimba soloist in The Lion King on Broadway, as a theatrical drummer in Blue Man Group, a Latin percussionist in New York City, a taiko drummer in Las Vegas, and a jazz drummer all over the country. He has taught private lessons and music theory at two universities and a community college, and currently directs two college jazz ensembles.

My style of teaching is informed by decades of studies with dozens of teachers on both coasts. All lesson plans are custom fit to match the student's background, current technique, and future goals.
