As a student, I appreciated when teachers did not give finals that covered subjects from the first chapter, all the way to the current chapter. I believe that students shouldn't strive to memorize as many topics as they can, but rather work deliberately through each one and walk away knowing that they mastered the subject. If they aced the test once, there is no need to test them again.
