I believe the best way to help students retain information, especially in language, is being able to practice in an environment where one is forced to use the language. Once students have a good grasp on the alphabet and finger spelling , I believe voice-off teaching is most practical.
I am a freshman at Molloy College on Long Island pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre. I have been studying ASL since middle school in Austin TX, and will continue to study the language at Molloy. I have lots of experience with teaching, from ages 8 to 18, and have no trouble keeping learning environments fun!
