About Oliver

Most of my success is in cross country, where I won the Western Province Championships 7 times. On the track, I have also had success at a provincial level.

I high school I ran 30:45 at the Durban 10km race in 2019.
In my first year of college I ran 8:57 for the 3000m steeplechase.
In my sophomore year I delivered an All-Regionals performance in cross country. Unfortunately, my collegiate career was cut short shortly afterwards by injury and I haven’t had a full season since then.

About the lesson

I have a lot of experience training for high caliber races, from a young age up to a young adult, so I am well suited to tailoring programs for any age.

I’ve had injuries while under the management of other coaches which cut my collegiate career short. This has led to a lot of frustration in coaches who push generalist and inflexible programs that don’t consider the athlete’s history. I will never be guilty of this.

I come from a family if runners and in contact with many top athletes I can go to for advice.

My approach is one that maximises accountability by setting clear objectives and tangible goals. Additionally, I will engage with the athlete and listen to them as a human being.

After consulting with the athlete, I will write a program for them and engage with them weekly through asynchronous channels to ensure accountability and adjust based of athlete feedback.

Details

Written program costs $5/week. I will then update each month based on feedback from the athlete to ensure that it is tailored to maximise their payoff for the effort they put in.

For example, a 3 month program would cost $5 times 12 weeks =$60. I will then calibrate and adjust each week after athlete feedback to ensure best training adaptation.
