About Maria
I graduated from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York, with a B.A. Summa Cum Laude in both History and Political Science and a minor in French Language and Literature. In 2015, I tutored one student and helped her to successfully pass her NYS Regents Examination. I tutored a second student in 2016 and assisted her in preparing for and passing the Regents Examination, as well. Subsequently, I volunteered as a freelance writing tutor for several of my undergraduate peers at Le Moyne College, during the Spring 2018, Fall 2018, Spring 2019, and Spring 2020 semesters. I primarily helped the students to edit, revise, reorganize, and embellish their papers written for both French and English classes, and they achieved high grades as a result of my assistance.

My teaching method is based upon meeting the distinctive needs of each student that I am tutoring. For example, when tutoring French, some pupils may struggle with conjugating verbs, whereas others may need more help with spelling or grammar. I create activities- whether it be flashcards, practice worksheets, or Kahoot/Jeopardy games- that strengthen the specific skill or concept that is causing difficulty for the student. Most importantly, I end each tutoring session by asking the student if he or she has any questions or needs clarification on a particular topic. I also feel that it is important to always congratulate the pupil on the progress that he or she has made during the session.
