About Shawanda
Graduating with a BM Commercial Music degree from Belmont University provided the foundation for my 12 years of coaching. Sitting in a room with a student as they finally nail a difficult chord change remains the highlight of my week.
I have guided 277 students through the complexities of fingerpicking and barre chords. Improvisation and soloing are often intimidating, but we break them down into manageable steps.
Reading sheet music or tabs becomes a secondary language once you understand the fretboard. We explore scales and modes to broaden your lead guitar vocabulary.
Tuning and maintenance are habits I teach to keep your instrument playing perfectly. Chord transitions and acoustic technique form the backbone of our practice. It is genuinely enjoyable to watch someone gain confidence on the instrument.

Imagine walking through a song, maybe one you have heard a hundred times, and suddenly understanding exactly how the guitarist constructed those complex parts. We look at chord transitions and lead guitar lines in a way that feels like a conversation. You bring me song requests, and we turn them into simplified arrangements that you can actually play. I use my 12 years of experience to adapt every exercise to your current level.
Sometimes we pause to look at scales and modes, but only when they serve the song we are building. The goal is making music you love on your own terms. We keep things structured so you feel your progress each week. Reach out whenever you are ready to start playing.
