About David
Hi! I'm a commercial pilot currently flying the DC-3T, with a strong passion for both aviation and education. I hold an Honors bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Toronto, with minors in Computer Science and Mathematics. My academic background, combined with my hands-on flying experience, allows me to bridge the gap between theory and real-world aviation. Before becoming a pilot, I worked as a data scientist at IBM, specializing in educational content creation in machine learning, statistics, and data science. Now, I bring that same passion for teaching into the aviation world, helping aspiring pilots build a deep understanding of flight principles, aerodynamics, meteorology, and aircraft systems. Whether you're preparing for your pilot exams, struggling with flight theory, or just curious about the physics behind flying, I'm here to help! I break down complex aviation concepts into clear, intuitive explanations, making learning both effective and engaging. My goal is not just to teach, but to ensure you understand and apply what you learn—so you can become a more confident and knowledgeable aviator.

A knowledgeable pilot is a safe and competent pilot. In addition to physically operating an aircraft, a pilot must have a firm grasp of the underlying physics of flight, the operation of aircraft systems, meteorology, rules and regulations, physiology, and human psychology. My priority as an instructor is for you to develop a strong foundation in these topics which will serve as a framework for the rest of your career. My ultimate aim is for you to not only memorize the correct answer, but when presented with a problem, to have the tools to come to a reasonable and correct solution. In addition to developing this core knowledge and confidence, I understand that the nature of Transport Canada exams can be tricky with the phrasing and format of the questions. Therefore, I ensure that my students are equipped with the correct tools and strategies on navigating and succeeding on the PPL, CPL, INRAT, IATRA written exams.
