About Richard

I have been teaching the English language for twenty years. It is my career, my passion, and I am really, really good at it. However, there is always more to learn.
I started teaching at a private school in Japan in 2001. I was a rookie then, and teaching children was very difficult, but I learnt so much. In 2005, I earnt a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Studies so I could become a better teacher. Later, I earnt a Certificate of English Language Teaching for Adults (CELTA).
Next? A Master's Degree!
I have taught in Japan, Indonesia, and Australia. This includes private English schools, colleges, universities, TAFE, kindergarten, and primary schools.
I have taught Engineering, Mechanical, Business, Design, and Marketing students at TAFE.

Recently, I have started giving private lessons on Zoom: there's still more to learn.

About the lesson

I listen to you, and design lessons to suit YOUR needs. It is YOUR lesson.
The first classes will have a good balance of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. I will tailor later classes to help you with your weaknesses.
I want YOU to do 60 - 80% of the talking. I will model how to write essays, letters, emails, and then YOU will write your own.
I can come to your home for lessons, we can meet in a public place, or we can use Zoom.
I prefer weekday mornings, but I can do afternoons. Evenings and weekends are possible, but more expensive.
Most of my adult students have 1 or 2-hour lessons, but for young children I recommend 30 - 45 minutes. One-hour lessons are also available.
Yes, I can teach adults: I have a C.E.L.T.A., and have taught at Milner, TAFE, and Navitas.
Yes, I can teach CHILDREN of any age: I have a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education.
Yes, I can teach I.E.L.T.S., Business English, or just conversation.
Yes, I can teach writing, reading, speaking, and listening.
Yes, I can give homework.
Yes, I can help you with your assignments and school work.
Yes, I can speak some Japanese and Bahasa Indonesia: I lived in both countries.

Perfect! Unfortunately, Richard and I had only 2 lessons as I couldn't continue having lessons with him for personal reasons. However, the ones that we had were amazing! He structures lessons based on one's individual strengths and weaknesses and has a deep understanding of the format of the IELTS exam.
