About Sara

I’m Sara. I am a Literature enthusiast who is passionate about both books and how authors create meaning. I have recently completed my A levels in English Literature, History and Politics at Rochester Grammar School. I have also previously mentored in German GCSE and enjoy speaking German, having travelled to Germany. Having studied and completed English Literature GCSE myself, I am willing to incorporate an enjoyable visual and memory based style of learning for students. My previous role as a part time teaching assistant at a learning centre enabled me to gain a valuable insight into different approaches to learning and helped me to commit to fulfilling the potentials of students of various abilities; this allowed me to have a sense of vocation for English. For both subjects, I believe strong vocabulary knowledge is especially vital, hence I aim to help students to retain a wide range of vocabulary for their long-term memory. I aim for students to share the same passion for English Literature and German.

I would make a great and enthusiastic tutor because I always encourage determination in students and effectively help them to reach beyond their potential. I like to enthuse students with optimism and to help overcome challenges and to ensure rapid and sustained progress. I am a dynamic and compassion tutor with an ability to enhance analytical skills of students for English and to strengthen German vocabulary, as well as grammar for students who require help with learning German.

About the lesson

I plan to help my students through assessing their strengths and weaknesses and aim to prioritise helping them on the topics they most need to cover. I aspire to transform their weaknesses into their long-term strengths. During lessons I would ensure that specifically designed vocabulary and terminology resources are utilised to stretch, challenge and encourage long-term memory, in order to maximise their potential. I would also plan to make use of my extra vocabulary lists designed to stretch students to suit the needs of their curriculum and to ensure that they also have a drive for English or German beyond the set school curriculum.

In terms of qualifications, I achieved a 9 in English Literature GCSE and an A in German GCSE which would best suit my strong desire to tutor English and German to a high standard.

Regarding my knowledge of the curriculum and exam expectations, I would help students who require German help with learning German to understand German grammar as well as to encompass a real love of German as a vital and interesting language. Even at GCSE level you can still engage in fun, real-life conversations to help you immerse in the language even further. I believe learning German through interactive conversation is the best way to enhance lifelong skills that will be valuable in the long-term.
