About Amy

As a parent, and a student who struggled with reading and really feeling understood, and this motivated me pursue my psychology degree to better understand human behavior and how to best help others. For all these reasons, I vow to:
* always do my best to really listen and hear what my students are telling me--then generate solutions that actually help.
* treat my students with respect always mindful of how I can help without enabling.
* actively listen and view everyone from the people-are-not-always-their-behavior lens.
Students need to feel they are free to safely explore subjects without fear of judgement or bullying. Life is about making meaningful connections, learning, and discovering strengths, sometimes through difficult tasks, we find great abilities.

About the lesson

Many of us, myself included, have struggled with reading and really understanding, or decoding, that information in ways to make it more useful or easy to understand. I like to examine complex steps, directions, instructions, or questions and explain them in simpler terms to make it easier to understand. Students will work in small, but manageable time "chunks" using fun, reading games to help in better understanding what they're reading. We'll ask questions and explore exciting journey's. And, finally, using feedback to measure the goals tailored to each student's success.
