About Jennafer

Hi! My name is Jennafer Watson, I am glad you have come across my post =) I hope I can help full fill your tutoring needs ;) Below there's a brief description of my experience.

My 11 years of experience includes a post as a collegiate level Teaching Assistant, mentoring middle school students failing their classes, serving as a psychology tutor at the collegiate level, as well as tutoring various subjects serving pre-school to college students, and teaching English as a second language (ESL). I am always open to connecting with new students, to discover how we can achieve their academic goals.

About the lesson

As a tutor, to be effective with my students, I create a shame-free learning environment through my attitude to create a safe and stable place to learn. My practice of interpersonal effectiveness skills with sensitivity to cultural awareness weld a structure to be effective with my compassion-driven approach.

The basis of my classes vary from student-to-student. Most high-school, college, and graduate students need supplementary support to their school work therefore, bring their own topics to our seasons. When teaching ESL, I bring the topics and materials to our sessions. In essence, depending on the student, I mold to meet their needs.

When tutoring any topic, I will start our session with a smile and ask you how you are. I want to check-in and see how you're doing. I have found, checking-in helps 'clears the air' and allows us to be more productive during our session.

Naturally, we will move into 'today's topic' and discuss: the sticky areas, areas of strength, and goals for today's session. As we jump into learning mode, I connect with each student as I evaluate their learning technique, and current comprehension of the material. As we work, I use kind encouragement, in my role as a supportive guide, as the student and I partner to tackle 'today's topic'.

In close, we review how we met our goals, if appropriate we set additional goals for our next session or for the student to accomplish during the week until we meet again.
