About Kate
Hello! My name is Kate Wexell. I have been studying classical music for 13 years and competing. I have experience in studio teaching and personalized private lessons for beginner and intermediate students held in my home.
As a pianist, I have been a part of several types of ensembles. I do volunteer work by playing piano at nursing homes, hospitals, and holiday events. I've also been the pianist for jazz bands, praise bands, and Wind Ensembles that have been featured at state performances in Illinois.
Regarding my teaching, I have taught students ranging from 5-15 years of age including those with mental illness. I do not believe that any kind of disability is a reason to not pursue music and I try to accommodate all of my students as necessary.

A typical lesson is about 30 minutes long and features learning new repertoire along with being instructed about music theory, music history, and working on areas of improvement.
Although I am a classical pianist, I allow my students to choose which music they'd like to focus on. In the past, I have taught classical music, jazz, chording, holiday music, pop music, and duets.
Students may also choose to learn about music composition. I instruct students about music theory and composition using the MuseScore3 software.
