I completed my Postgraduate Certificate Education (PGCE) in in Secondary Mathematics and before then had a range of experiences tutoring and teaching in the UK as well as in South Africa and Tanzania. I have a first class Masters degree in Mathematics and I'm currently studying for a Masters in International and Comparative Education.
I teach all levels up to age 18 but I'm most comfortable tutoring secondary and A-Level. My approach is based on building confidence and perseverance in Mathematics based around problem-solving and learning from mistakes. I am calm and kind and will use a variety of explanations to help students to understand concepts for themselves. I believe that it is important for students to understand the mathematics they are doing rather than just following procedures blindly and I think that everyone can do mathematics, it is just a case of how it is presented.
