About Satoshi
A native of Japan, Satoshi Kanazawa is a New York City-based composer of classical and contemporary music and pianist. His original music and arranged works are performed in the U.S., Canada, Belgium, and Japan. Kanazawa received many awards and grants such as the Shelley Pinz Professional Development Grant (2017), the Hirosaki Sakurano Sono Composition Competition (Grand Prize with Hirosaki City Mayor Award and Hifumi Shimoyama Award, 2015), the Lin Yao Ji International Competition for Composition (Grand Prize, 2014), the NYFA Artists’ Fellowship with the additional title of Gregory Millard Fellow (2013), and the 6th JFC Composers Award (2011). He is also active as a pianist and frequently performs in and around New York. He released his debut piano album, entitled "Flowing Blue", by Mar Creation Records in 2009 to showcase his unique style of music. His music encompasses a wide variety of styles and genres - from tonal music to atonalism, and from serious music to children's music. His works include solo, vocal, chamber, and orchestral pieces. Kanazawa has more than 25 years of experience teaching piano and composition as well as music theory and ear training from the age of 5 and up.
Kanazawa graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, and is a certified teacher of The STEINWAY Teacher and Educational Partners (STEPs).

Offering exceptional musical experiences for all ages and levels with a lot of fun and learning, I specialize in teaching classical music from early to intermediate levels at young ages (5 years old and up).
[Primer Course] Focuses on building basic skills such as technique, reading music, ear training and basic theory. Students will learn basic fundamentals of music.Based on students' age, children between 5 and 7 years old are offered 30 minute-lesson unless their skills and level are beyond Primer Level. Primer Level for students over 7 years old are offered 45 minute-lesson.
(30-minute lesson: $60/lesson)
[Basic Course] Expanding basic musical skills including technique, sight reading and rhythm training. Students will learn how to express music based on music analysis. Based on students' age, children under 7 years old may be offered 45 minute-lesson if their skills and level are beyond Primer Level.
(45-minute lesson: $80/lesson)
[Intermediate - Advanced Course] Acquiring wide varieties of significant repertoire from Baroque to contemporary music. Students will continue to develop proficient technique for various expressions with style analyzation. Music theory and harmony lesson can be provided upon request. If students' skills and techniques are beyond Basic Course, 60 minute-lesson will be offered regardless of student's age.

**90-minute lesson is available upon request.
In-home lessons will also be offered within a 10-mile radius from the Mamaroneck studio or Forest Hills studio, and the following travel fee will be additionally incurred for each travel besides lesson fees.

Up to 10 miles: $40
In-home lessons in Manhattan (up to 96th Street) will be charged a flat-rate $10 travel fee, in addition to the basic lesson fee.
**One-time Registration Fee and Annual Studio Fee for shared common materials will be charged at the time of registration.

Piano lessons also are available in Queens (Forest Hills) Studio, or in-home lessons in Manhattan ($10 travel fee is added to the basic lesson fees) and the Long Island area (travel fee varies and depends on area and distance from the Forest Hills studio).
