About Harris
I'm a down to earth easy going person. I was a general computer-science tutor and teaching assistant in college (Distributed Systems and Big Data) for 3 years. I also volunteered as a math and science GRE tutor for 2 years.
In terms of my results in tutoring computer science, I have successfully helped my high school students develop their programming skills enabling them to gain entrance into several colleges. When in college no student of mine ever got less than a B+ on an exam. And for the non-academic students, I was able to help them become proficient enough at programming to land multiple job offers as a developer. Every person I tutored for the GRE passed the exam in their first attempt.

Please don't mistake me for your typical computer nerd, I can hold a conversation on just about any topic and my first language is English.
I would like to work with a few students (any experience level) closely so that we may build a strong and lasting relationship. I find the best way to learn how to code is with real-world application. Unless we are following a course syllabus, I usually let the student think of a program/app they would like to build, then help them build it. No matter the task they select I can start them slowly then dive into more advanced topics. It's a flexible way to allow them to learn at their own pace. Finally, I notice this method keeps them engaged for very long periods of time (6-24 months) as they have complete ownership of the product. The final outcome is to release the app on the app store(s) and share it with their friends and family.
