About Jimmy
Hi, I'm Jimmy! I am a Computer Science major with a minor in Game Design, and I specialize in teaching C# and video game development.
For the past four years, I have worked as a Lead Sensei and Camp Coordinator at a dedicated youth coding center. I have extensive experience breaking down complex programming concepts—like state machines, character controllers, and C# fundamentals—into engaging, easy-to-understand lessons for kids and teens.

My teaching style is down-to-earth, highly flexible, and collaborative. I believe in guiding your programming journey like a peer and a mentor. We focus on practical game design and C# coding to build unique, creative games—not just generic shooters!
Here is what you can expect from our lessons:
- Creative Brainstorming & Game Theory: We go beyond the code to explore what actually makes a game engaging. We will brainstorm unique concepts by drawing inspiration from real life, discussing frameworks like the 14 pillars of fun, and designing mechanics that evoke a specific 'game feel' tailored to your target audience.
- Bite-Sized Foundations: We start with manageable projects (like a Tamagotchi-style game using simple shapes) to get you comfortable with core mechanics like UI, player movement, level design, and enemy actions.
- Advanced Architecture: Once you master the basics, we will slowly introduce professional concepts like State Machines, Game Managers, and ScriptableObject architecture (SOAP) to level up your code.
- Flexible, Student-Led Projects: If you already have some Unity experience or have mastered the foundations, the floor is yours! I will help you architect, code, and polish the custom projects you are passionate about creating.
Learning to code should be an approachable and creative process. Let's bring your unique game ideas to life!
