About Mia

I’m currently studying Computer Science at Spelman College with plans to pursue a career in data analytics. I’ve always had a passion for problem solving, technology, and helping others learn in a way that feels less stressful and more encouraging.

Giving back to the community and helping younger students grow in confidence is something that’s really important to me. Through mentoring and leadership experiences, I’ve had the opportunity to work with students in academic and STEM-focused environments - through Verizon mentoring and Thrives Scholars, helping create supportive spaces that encourage learning, creativity, and personal growth. I enjoy making difficult concepts feel simpler and more relatable so students can feel confident in their abilities instead of intimidated by schoolwork.

My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to encourage them to believe in themselves, ask questions comfortably, and develop skills that will help them long term.

About the lesson

Hi! My name is Mia, and I’m a rising senior Computer Science student with a passion for helping students build confidence in math and problem solving.

I specialize in tutoring students from 4th–6th grade and focus on creating a patient, encouraging, and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

My teaching style is very interactive. I break difficult concepts down into simple steps, use real-world examples, and guide students through practice problems until they fully understand the material instead of just memorizing answers.

Whether your child needs help improving grades, preparing for tests or staying organized with homework, I aim to make learning less stressful and more enjoyable while helping students build long-term confidence in their abilities.
