My name is Ben Zabihi, I grew up in Fairfax, VA and I’m a student at the University of Colorado Boulder pursuing a bachelors degree In Computer Science. I have been tutoring privately for a year and for my high school math department for an extra year.

Teaching has run though my family for generations, my parents, aunts and uncles are all teachers; it runs through my veins! As someone who personally struggled learning math in a big classroom and has had tutors in the past I know how much of a difference a good tutor can effect your experience with math. I feel the most important thing to understand in mathematics is the concepts and rules that lead you to your answer. This is extremely important when it comes to learning math because just understanding how to find the answer can often make you more confused without the proper background. A typical lesson plan for me would be to receive a worksheet, homework or study guide from the student prior to the session. I will review the material and establish a plan for how to best explain and provide support for this topic. At first I will just talk to the student and try to understand what they are struggling with. From there I can change and guide my instruction based on what they’ve told me. These lessons are for kids ages 7-18 and math levels up until Algebra 2 (including Geometry).
