About Kylie

Hi! I'm a Computer Science & Linguistics student at UCLA with a strong passion for math, physics, and helping others learn. Throughout my academic journey, I've taken advanced courses in calculus, linear algebra, physics, and computer science, giving me a solid understanding of the material I teach.

I know firsthand that these subjects can feel overwhelming, especially when concepts seem to build on one another. That's why I focus on creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. My goal isn't just to help students solve homework problems or prepare for exams, but to make sure they truly understand the concepts so they can approach future topics with confidence.

Whether a student is struggling to keep up, wants to improve their grades, or is looking for an extra challenge, I tailor every lesson to their individual goals and learning style. I'm patient, easy to work with, and genuinely enjoy seeing students gain confidence as they improve.

About the lesson

I focus on helping students build a strong understanding of concepts instead of just memorizing formulas. For calculus and physics, I like to explain why something works first, then walk through examples step by step before having students solve similar problems on their own. I encourage questions throughout the lesson and adjust my explanations based on each student's learning style, whether they prefer visual diagrams, real-world examples, or working through practice problems together.

A typical lesson starts with reviewing any previous material or homework to identify areas of confusion. From there, I introduce the day's topic with a simple explanation, demonstrate how to solve different types of problems, and then let the student work through practice questions while I provide guidance and feedback. At the end of each session, I summarize the key ideas and suggest additional practice so students continue improving between lessons.

What sets me apart is my ability to break down difficult topics into smaller, more manageable steps. I know that many students struggle because concepts are introduced too quickly, so I focus on building confidence as well as problem-solving skills. My goal is not only to help students earn better grades but also to make them feel comfortable tackling new problems independently.

My lessons are designed for middle school and high school students taking general math, algebra, geometry, precalculus, introductory calculus, or physics courses. Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for exams, completing homework, or getting ahead in class, I tailor each lesson to their current level and learning goals.
