About Alyssa
Hello, I'm Alyssa and a current student at the University of Utah. I have previously tutored at Timpview high school in which I tutored grades 9 to 12 in all math subjects from Algebra, Statistics, and Geometry to Calculus. I have worked with classrooms of students and have learned to accommodate various learning styles and needs. I have helped students failing their math classes to pass and I believe everyone is capable of learning math if they put in the effort to learn. One of my favorite moments as a tutor was when I helped a student study for his statistics class and he came to me a few days later excited to tell me it was the first test he's passed all semester.

My teaching approach is to teach by examples whether it be book examples, homework, or problems I write. I feel repetition is a great teaching tool that builds confidence when students begin to recognize patterns and the method to solving problems. My favorite aspect of tutoring is when the material finally clicks for someone and they say "Oh, I can do this." I believe anyone who puts in the time to learn can learn anything and I strive to help anyone achieve their learning goals.
