About Lyle
I am a computer science student focusing on machine learning and general software development. I have taught and mentored friends and peers in many different conceptual spaces in computer science, ranging from foundations of computer science to real world applications and how these present themselves in contributions to enterprise or general engineering pursuits. I have previously twice interned at Amazon, and am still finishing my degree.

I hope to make software engineering and computer science more accessible through explanations and explorations of material that is often confusing, by motivating the concepts through concrete motivations. These, especially when related to adjacent fields or the modern world, can not only make the concepts easier to grasp, but they can be shown as intriguing, like the field itself naturally is.
I like to build up from fundamentals when necessary, but fundamentals can be motivated through demonstrations of their application to more complicated and modern engineering feats. Basically, I will know if I have done my job well if you come away from the session a little more excited and passionate about the subject. Part of the job of a teacher is to guide someone else through a problem space, and helping their students to move concepts from "unknown unknowns" into the place of "known unknowns" or "known knowns". This might be somewhat obvious, but I seldom hear others mention its importance in exploring new material, but I personally believe it helps inspire awe towards what the modern world has really achieved, and itself can be particularly motivating.
