About Rodrigo

Hi! As a current junior majoring in Computer Science with a Data Science track at the University of Maryland, College Park, I possess exceptional skills in various programming languages, including Python, R, Java, C, and MIPS. My experience in using packages like pandas, numpy, and matplotlib, as well as concepts like time-series data, data visualization, and computational neuroscience, has made me stand out as a detail-oriented data scientist. Additionally, I have completed coursework in object-oriented programming, systems, algorithms, statistics, probability, and neuroscience providing me with a strong foundation in computer science and in the life sciences.

As an Entry-Level Research Data Scientist and Bioinformatics Intern at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), I have been able to create pipelines for data processing and analysis in Python, MATLAB, and R. I am well-versed in advanced techniques such as dimensionality reduction and classifier machine learning models. Additionally, I contributed to a research study on artificial intelligence at the University of Maryland School of Medicine that resulted in a poster presentation at the 7th Annual BRAIN Initiative Investigator’s Meeting. The project demonstrated my ability to apply deep learning techniques with great accuracy to identify sub-cortical visual areas.
