About Lana

I am a dedicated and reliable Computer Science undergraduate with a strong academic background in both maths and computing. I have a clear understanding of the GCSE and A-Level curriculum, and I am confident in my ability to explain concepts in a simple, structured, and engaging way.

Although I am new to tutoring professionally, I have experience helping peers and classmates understand difficult topics, which has developed my ability to communicate clearly and adapt explanations to suit different learning styles. I am patient, approachable, and committed to helping students build both their confidence and academic performance.

I take pride in being well-prepared and organised for every lesson, ensuring that time is used effectively and that each session is tailored to the student’s goals. Whether a student is aiming to improve their grades, strengthen their understanding, or prepare for exams, I provide a supportive and professional learning environment to help them succeed.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred around building confidence and understanding, rather than just memorising methods. I aim to create a supportive and relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems at their own pace.

I tailor my teaching to each student’s needs and learning style. Typically, I start by identifying areas they find challenging, then break topics down into simple, manageable steps. I use a mix of worked examples, guided practice, and independent questions to reinforce understanding. I also focus on exam technique, especially for GCSE and A-Level students, helping them recognise common question types and how to approach them effectively.

Lessons are usually 60 minutes long, although I’m happy to adjust this depending on the student’s preference. A typical lesson might include reviewing previous material, learning a new concept, and practising exam-style questions to build confidence.

While I am new to tutoring professionally, I am currently a Computer Science undergraduate with a strong academic background in maths and computing. Through my studies, I have developed strong problem-solving skills and a clear understanding of how to explain complex ideas in a simple and logical way.

My lessons are suitable for students studying maths or computer science at primary, GCSE, or A-Level. I’m particularly keen to help students who want to improve their grades, build confidence, or strengthen their understanding of key concepts.
