About Mateus
I am a pianist originally from Brazil, I have a bachelor’s degree from the University of São Paulo and moved to Chicago in 2022 to pursue a Master’s degree. Nowadays I am finishing a Performance Diploma program at the same school, Chicago College of Performing Arts of Roosevelt University.
During my path with the piano, I participated and was awarded in several piano competitions, such as an international competition in Mexico and the 1st National Chopin Competition of Brazil. I also was lucky to have masterclasses with important pianists, such as Daniil Trifonov and Yulliana Avdeeva.
I am a piano faculty at two music schools at the moment, and am looking forward to grow my own studio!

I teach beginners and advanced students, my lessons are adapted to your needs. Usually, I like to work with theory, technique, and repertoire during every lesson.
I have experience with young kids and adults. My students have earned 1st prizes in competitions as well as been successful in state exams such as AIM.
