About Gregor

I'm new to this site but have many reviews on Thumbtack. I've been performing, recording and touring for over 40 years and have learned over the years between playing with talent and playing with knowledge. As you age you must learn to play efficiently and become aware of habits that cause pain and learn how to correct them. Anyone can tell you to relax and play without tension but the trick is knowing how to do that. Lots of teachers say the same things the same way and the students blames themselves if they don't understand or can't do it. It's the teacher's fault though for not taking the time and effort to create many different ways of explaining things until you find the one that clicks with each individual student.

About the lesson

You will leave playing better than when you arrived and with a smile on your face. You can't teach what you don't know so only study with someone who plays well. I've played Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center many times, performed and recorded with everyone from David Bowie and Ziggy Marley to Orchestra of St. Luke's and Leonard Bernstein and toured much of America and Europe but New York has always been my home. I especially love teaching adults who used to play or always wanted to play and consider it to be a huge compliment when someone takes time out of their busy life and money out of their tight budget to come to me to learn to play the violin. I also have access to great rental violins for people who don't feel ready to buy a violin yet.
