Many students have told me they are just “bad at math.” In my experience this feeling often means math anxiety! Math anxiety is something I encountered in my students when I taught, and it’s something I continue to see as a therapist. I take a twofold approach when tutoring students with math anxiety. We begin by focusing on mastering the concepts students are working on in class. While we learn these concepts, we are investigating how YOU learn best so that you can feel confident in your ability to learn math. Because of my background in teaching, as well as my education in psychology and career as a therapist, I have a deeper understanding of learning and can tailor my approach to meet individual needs.
