About Galina

I hold a Bachelor's degree 15 years ago in Pedagogical University. And after graduating, I started to use all knowledge in practice, improving my methods of teaching. During these years, I've been teaching students from different countries. Those students who had regular lessons and improved their skills from lesson to lesson made awesome results.

About the lesson

Lessons are built around continuous conversations on specific topics throughout each session, helping you actively speak and practice Ukrainian, and after each lesson I provide personalized words and phrases from our discussion, clearly explained in context for confident everyday use.

Perfect! Adapted her lesson to suit my needs. Went slowly when I needed and answered questions I asked. I don't feel worried when I get things wrong, she doesn't mind. I am not very quick at learning but she is patient. Would recommend!

Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?
I speak Russian and Ukrainian because these languages are my mother tongues. I was born in the Eastern part of Ukraine and people there speak Russian freely but some schools, a lot of TV shows and songs are in Ukrainian. So I know both languages well.

As I learned the grammar of these languages carefully, I know a lot of tricky moments which I can explain to my students in English.
Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?
I think nowadays it's not a person but events which are happening now in Ukraine that can say a lot about Ukraine.
Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?
Sympathy and compassion. These two words describe Ukrainians.
Why does speaking this language matter to you?
These languages matter to me because I think in these languages and they are a part of me. Ukrainian is considered the world's third most beautiful language. Also, it's officially the second most melodic language in the world.
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
Grammar is the most difficult part of Ukrainian and Russian. But consistent lessons will help students to practice and speak these languages easily.

( - Why did you get a bad mark in the Ukrainian language?

How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
The more I spoke to native speakers the easier I could express myself. When you immerse yourself in the language environment, then over time you even begin to think in this language.
