About Joseph

Hi, I’m Joseph — a Cork secondary school teacher and a University of Limerick graduate with a 1st Class Honors degree. I have taught in five secondary schools and have also worked with the State Examinations Commission as both a superintendent and examiner, giving me a strong understanding of exam standards and what students need to succeed.

My teaching approach is based on active learning, clear explanations and building confidence. I break topics down step-by-step to remove barriers, strengthen understanding and improve exam performance in Higher Level Leaving Cert and Junior Cycle Maths, Construction Studies/Wood Technology, DCG/Graphics, and SEN support.

I aim to create a supportive, structured learning environment where students gain clarity, confidence and measurable progress.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, supportive and focused on helping students build confidence while improving exam performance. As a Cork secondary school teacher with a University of Limerick 1st Class Honours degree, and experience working as a superintendent and examiner with the State Examinations Commission, I understand exactly what students are expected to produce in Higher Level Leaving Cert exams. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s level and goals. I break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps, strengthen fundamental understanding, and gradually build towards exam-standard questions. I place strong emphasis on exam technique, accuracy and structured solutions, ensuring students understand why a method works rather than simply memorising procedures. A typical lesson involves identifying areas of difficulty, revising key concepts, and practising exam-style questions with targeted feedback. Students leave with greater clarity, improved confidence and a clear sense of progress. Lessons are typically 60 minutes, with longer sessions available if required. I work with students preparing for Higher Level Leaving Cert Maths, Construction Studies/Wood Technology, DCG/Graphics, and those requiring SEN support. Lessons are adapted to suit each student’s needs, pace and academic goals.
