About Jayden
Hi, I'm Jayden, your go-to tutor for all things STEM! My mentors in high school were the most important part of my journey, as they didn't just teach me, they helped me redefine my mindset and approach to learning as well. Now, as a Cornell Engineering Student with an IB Diploma, as well as a 4.0 GPA in high school and a 1520 SAT (740RW, 780M), I know I'm fortunate enough to be where I am today due to the help of these mentors. That's why I want to give younger students the same experience and guide them towards success, just like how my mentors did for me.
I have tutoring experience in a 4th-grade Chinese language classroom, with younger family members, and with struggling 9th and 10th-grade students during my time as a peer tutor with the National Honor Society. I also tutored my friends in IB Chemistry, Biology, and Math A&A, and acted as an SAT coach. My work has allowed my students to achieve A's in their classes, and has helped my friends earn impressive scores of 1500 and 1480 on their SATs. I aim to make learning an engaging and fun experience by focusing on evidence-based methods. I will assess what the student knows before the lesson to create a narrow focus for my lesson plan; then, during the lesson, I'll guide with the Socratic method and help students work through customized problems to build confidence and intuitive understanding, eventually having them try problems on their own. My approach is tailored to how each student learns best, and I will adjust my methods, examples, and problems based on each student. Finally, I welcome parent and student feedback after each session. To constantly improve my teaching, I reflect on my performance and goals regularly, and feedback is a valuable resource for that.
