About Anika
I chose to study to become a teacher because I had such a wide range of interests and I found it hard to give any of it up. I love sports and exercise, science, languages, history, computer games, and animals. By being a teacher, I can teach my favourite subjects as well as help students reach their fitness goal, while chatting away in free time about games or books. All that is missing is that I would love to bring a dog to class to serve as emotional support.

I find the Five E teaching method to be very efficient:
Engage - get you interested in the topic with a targeted question
Explore - see how the topic fits into the real world
Explain - discuss the topic in detail
Elaborate - try doing some exercises to apply your knowledge/skills
Evaluate - complete an activity to test whether you have mastered the topic
I am proficient to teach in both English and Afrikaans. My experience with teaching students ranges from learners aged 7 - 16! I have recently worked with students in lower senior school (ages 13 - 16) and I thoroughly enjoy it! I have taught three different curricula (South African CAPS, American (West Virginia), and Cambridge) and incorporate aspects of these into all my lessons.
