About the lesson

We will go through solving your problem using python and other open-source frameworks. I focus on making it possible for you to solve real problems with minimum theory. Each class is different and will depend on your needs. We can work on your computer or using cloud Jupyter

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I have always been interested in forecasting and in 2013 I had an opportunity to develop a forecasting and aggregation model to predict electricity demand for various customers. I liked the clarity the model gave to the data, so I never looked back. Further, I developed a strong interest in natural language processing (NLP) while working on my Ph.D. where I needed to analyze large amounts of social media data. I worked on NLP for many years while improving my skills in other statistical and ML techniques. For me, the highlight of this work was developing a stock market prediction algorithm that I use successfully on a daily basis. But I still have so many ideas of things I want to achieve with ML.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
I like to solve problems. What's better than seeing a solution emerge from chaos? And I love AI. I believe it's here to improve our lives and free up time for humans to think about things that really matter (like social issues...)
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
I love being able to make complex problems simple for my students. Machine learning is often seen as mysterious and super complex, but luckily with the tools we have today, it is accessible to everyone. The trick is knowing what to look for, and that's what I help my students do.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.
I generally try to pave my own way, but if I had to point to a role model, it would be Elon Musk. I love his courage to try what everyone else thinks is too complex and doomed to fail. And then it doesn't fail and changes the world instead.
What are your keys to success?
Believe in yourself, take the long-term view and be kind.
