About Amir

Who I am:
Currently teaching A-Level Maths and Further Maths at prestigious David Game College.
• Ph.D in theoretical physics from Imperial College, Mathematics Department.
• First degree in theoretical Physics from the University of Oxford
• Three A-levels (Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics) and two Special Levels (Mathematics and Further Mathematics). All done in one year.
• One and half years of Post-Doc at Imperial College Mathematics Department. Working on mathematical models of growth and morphology.
• Two years of work experience as a mathematician, working for a software company to develop pricing strategies for financial instruments.
• Fifteen years of university teaching, in particular on advanced topics including Special Functions, Complex number Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, Stochastic Calculus, Linear Algebra, Quantum mechanics, Statistical physics, Thermodynamics and Electromagnetism
• Five years of tutoring experience, mostly A-Levels.

My approach to teaching:
My approach to teaching is very simple:
• I teach through stimulating and creative examples.
• I let my students ask as many questions as they wish no matter how silly the questions may appear. Based on my long teaching experience, students often feel uncomfortable to ask their questions. Unanswered questions are the sole reason behind frustration and consequently losing interest in a topic. As far as I am concerned, no question is silly or embarrassing.

Amir taught our son from September 2018 to June 2019. Our son did not do well in his GCSE exams and our aim was to help him catch up with his A-Level lessons. Amir taught A-Level maths and further maths to our son. He seemed very confident and comfortable to teach our son and his relationship with him was one of respect. Amir demonstrated much professionalism in his dealings with our son and his age difference was no barrier to establishing a friendly teacher-student relationship with him. Our son enjoyed his teaching discipline and methodology.
Our son's maths is now much better thanks to Amir’s very creative and engaging lessons. He knew how to teach complex ideas through good tangible examples and our son definitely enjoyed his classes.

Amir always arrived for teaching well prepared. He would use many creative methods to make sure that our daughter understood the subject being taught. Our daughter always looked forward to his lessons.
