About Teagan

I am a certified art educator with a dual background in Illustration and Art Education, and I currently teach middle and high school students in a classroom setting. Alongside my teaching career, I work as a professional artist, creating commissioned pieces and exhibiting my work in local and regional spaces. This combination of classroom experience and real-world practice allows me to offer students both strong technical instruction and insight into how art exists beyond school.

I have extensive experience working with a wide range of learners, including beginners, developing artists, and students preparing for advanced coursework or portfolios. My teaching is rooted in clear communication, patience, and high expectations, ensuring that each student feels supported while also being challenged to grow.

As an educator, I am highly organized, reliable, and intentional in my lesson planning. I create structured sessions that maximize learning time while still allowing space for creativity and individual expression. Students and families can expect consistent communication, thoughtful feedback, and a professional, respectful learning environment.

About the lesson

As a certified art teacher and professional illustrator, my approach to tutoring is rooted in building both technical skill and creative confidence. I believe every student is capable of creating meaningful artwork, and my role is to guide them with structure, encouragement, and clear, personalized instruction.

My teaching method combines demonstration, guided practice, and individual feedback. I break down complex concepts—like proportion, shading, perspective, and composition—into manageable steps, while also giving students space to explore their own ideas and artistic voice. I often incorporate both traditional techniques (pen and ink, pencil, watercolor) and digital tools, depending on the student’s interests and goals.

A typical lesson includes:

A short warm-up or skill-building exercise

A demonstration of a new technique or concept

Guided work time with one-on-one support

Constructive feedback and reflection to help students grow

What sets me apart is my experience working with a wide range of learners in both classroom and one-on-one settings. As a full-time educator, I understand how to adapt lessons for different skill levels, learning styles, and attention spans. I also bring in real-world artistic practices, helping students not only improve their skills but also think like artists—developing ideas, refining their work, and building confidence in their abilities.

My lessons are designed for middle school, high school, and beginner to intermediate artists, including students currently enrolled in art classes, those preparing portfolios, or anyone looking to grow creatively. I also support students who may struggle with focus or confidence by providing structured, engaging lessons that keep them motivated.
