About Ivy
I am a passionate and professional piano tutor with 10 years of teaching experience, having successfully guided around 300 students. My learners include high school students, college students, and adults, each with unique goals and learning styles. Teaching piano allows me to combine technical instruction with personal mentorship, helping students develop confidence, discipline, and a love for music.
My teaching philosophy is based on building strong foundations while fostering creativity. I focus on proper posture, finger independence, hand coordination, rhythm, scales, sight-reading, and musical interpretation. I take time to explain concepts clearly so students understand both the mechanics and emotion behind their pieces.
Lessons are carefully structured with warm-ups, technical exercises, theory integration, and repertoire practice. I guide students on how to practise effectively at home to achieve steady progress. Many of my students have performed successfully in school programmes, recitals, and public events, while others have earned high distinctions in graded examinations.
My goal is to inspire students to become confident, expressive, and skilled pianists who enjoy music throughout their lives.

My piano teaching style combines communication, creativity, flexibility, and balanced skill development. I focus on helping students build a strong technical foundation while also developing artistic expression.
I provide clear demonstrations and simple explanations for each lesson topic. Communication helps students stay confident and understand how to improve.
Creativity keeps lessons engaging through improvisation and expressive interpretation. Flexibility allows me to modify lesson pace and structure based on student needs.
Besides piano instruction, I teach related subjects such as harmony, ear training, music reading, and basic composition. My aim is to nurture well-rounded musicians who play with confidence, skill, and deep musical understanding.
