About Scott
Hello! I began my musical journey in the late 1980s. I've been fortunate enough to have completed approximately 5 years of college and conservatory training specific to piano. I'm a Berklee College of Music, Music Theory and Counterpoint Specialist. My BA is in Education and my MS is in Instructional Design and Technology, Online Learning Specialization. I have 11 years experience teaching private piano lessons to all age levels in Jacksonville, FL.

I can teach all styles of notated keyboard music. After general exposure to Classical theory, technique, and repertoire, many learners choose a style emphasis such as Blues, Pop, Gospel, Electronic, Rock, Jazz (or some combination thereof). Learners are trained to read and write standard musical notation, play at sight, play from lead sheets, play by ear, improvise, sing if they wish, create music, record music, learn from and play along with MIDI tracks, and perform in ensembles. I use a variety of methods depending on student age and interests. Some of the methods I've found useful are Suzuki, Piano Adventures, The Music Tree, Kodaly, The Joy Books, Alfred's, and Berklee.
Studio lessons often incorporate graded, computer-based mastery programs and games for ear training, rhythm development, sight reading, and introductory theory. 30-minute lessons are fine for most 5-7 year-olds. For others, I suggest 45-minute or hourly lessons. Online lessons are designed for learners at least 10 years of age. Younger ones usually require face to face instruction. In Home lessons are only by the hour.
