About Paula

I am a certified classical pianist from the Conservatory of Music in Maracaibo, Venezuela. My main teachers studied with renowned pianist from around the world, and I have received master classes from world class pianists such as Monique Duphil and Alessio Bax. I have played solo and as an accompanying pianist in chamber music groups and with choirs. I have taught as an assistant teacher at the Conservatory and given private instruction to students of different ages and backgrounds. I also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and speak Spanish (native), English and French.

About the lesson

I have a comprehensive approach towards teaching and like to include rote pieces (learning patterns by imitation), reading pieces, theory as well as simple improvisation, to develop an all-round musician, always respecting the student’s personal needs and desires. I believe music is more than notes on paper, and the goal is to communicate your ideas whether it is about a written piece of music or your own compositions, regardless if you’ve just started or you are a more experienced pianist. Perfect! Paula is an excellent piano teacher. She is patient, flexible, and very encouraging. Our children (7 y/o and 11 y/o) really enjoy her lessons and are learning a lot. We highly recommend Paula!

Diego and Aliña are both dream students. They read music very good and are fast learners. They also enjoy music so much that is a delight to work with them. We will be working in improving technic, reading skills and exploring more creative aspects of piano playing.

Where should I start? As a piano colleague, she's one of the best collaborators I've found in my way; as a teacher, she's sweet, patient, committed, detailed and down to earth.
