About Elete

I am a calm, creative educator with an ever-expanding love of languages that I take pride in sharing with my students. Over the course of my teaching career, this has manifested in instances that range from a brief anecdote about experiences living abroad and answering questions about exactly how useful languages are, to creating displays of cognates between Spanish and students' additional languages around school and introducing an Arabic curriculum to keen students. Outside of the classroom I am a writer and theatre-maker, regularly reviewing plays and writing my own. I enjoy sharing my wider skills and interests with students where appropriate; for example, I have run an elective module on the many pathways into theatre for students who were interested in any element from acting to lighting. I also enjoy cycling, baking and of course travelling when I get the chance!
I have experience teaching Spanish to Years 7-11, which includes planning lessons, course materials and schemes of work. I also have pastoral experience as a form tutor for Years 6, 7 and 11 and have been an intensive coach for more vulnerable students at school. I regularly complete Safeguarding training as well as training on supporting students with Additional Educational Needs, using practices such as differentiation in class and more literal access needs such as font sizes and yellow paper. I closely consider the additional needs of each student to incorporate into my teaching practice, ensuring that learning is accessible to everyone. Prior to qualifying as a teacher I worked as a private tutor for GCSE Maths, and was a Student Ambassador at university, greeting prospective students and their parents on their visit to the university.

About the lesson

I am a creative yet rigorous teacher with a wealth of experiences and resources ready to tailor our classes exactly to your learning needs. I have taught both Foundation and Higher tiers, and have supported those who are less confident in learning a language as well as those who need stretching from a grade 8 to a 9/A to A*.
I am a detail- and routine-oriented educator and will maintain open communication about what is and isn't working, using a mix of resources such as slideshows, worksheets, shared documents, a visualiser and even games to hone in on not only language skills but tips for success in all of the exams.
I am also a facilitator of creative theatre translation workshops in schools and a literary translator and I am happy to bring these practices into our classes to widen the scope of your curiosity about Spanish. Languages are fun, exam success can be too!
