About Tanika

I am born and bred in the heart of Cape Town. I have always had a desire for dressing well and fashion forward and during high school, my interest grew in this area. I then decided to persue a degree in fashion design and studied at the world recognised institute Fedisa, also based in Cape Town.

My time at Fedisa was challenging, yet so rewarding! I got to learn all the technical skills needed for a professional career in dressmaking. I also got to learn the editing skills to persue a career in fashion magazine editing and I learnt a lot of different techniques along the way.

During my time at Fedisa I also did an internship with Old Khaki, which falls under the Cape Union Mart Group. There I learnt about the commercial side of fashion, which isn't always as glamorous as the designer side.

Somewhere along the way in my student years, a passion for job creation started growing in me. I guess as I was getting more into the business side of things I realised the massive percentage of unemployment in our beautiful country and it shocked me. I then decided that I will go out to create jobs!

This is where Superprof comes in. I believe that anyone with a skill and a positive mindset can use it to generate an income. I would like to use this platform to encourage others to learn new skills that will help them generate their own income and inspire them to become independent.

About the lesson

I am so excited to share my knowledge and skills with you, who is interested in the world of fashion and handwork! We will cover all the basics in pattern making and fashion illustrations, to the more technical tasks of sewing and grading. Not only will you be learning a lot, we will be having fun and building relationships!

I would love to see how you fall in love with fashion and cannot wait for you to realise how much fun it is!

My home language is Afrikaans, but I am very comfortable in English as well. I am busy learning some other native languages and hope to add another language to my lessons soon!

Whether you are a beginner or have some back round in the field, I am here to help you learn at your own pace.

I look forward to working with you!
