About Sophia
I work as a peer tutor for my university, where I've received extensive training. I am one semester away from getting my Creative Writing degree.
At university, I work exclusively with other college students, helping them with their writing assignments from every class. However, I have a lot of experience working with children, and am eager to tutor all ages.
I am friendly, sociably and easy to talk to. I am here to guide the student's learning, not teach them or do the work for them. But I'm also really knowledgeable in all things writing and can answer all their questions.

Each of my sessions follow a structure, that can be adjusted for the students needs:
1. We will take a minute to get to know each other. Studies show that sessions are more successful when the student feels friendly with their tutor.
2. Student will tell me about their project. We will make a list of goals for the session and for the project.
3. If the student does not already have anything written, we will work together to make an outline. If that doesn't take the whole session, we can start writing together. If they DO have something written, we will read it together.
4. We will work together to meet their goals, as well as other writing musts, starting with highest priority e.g. topic sentences and thesis statements, down to the more minor things like grammar and punctuation.
5. The session will conclude with a brief discussion on how it went, and we'll discuss what the student can do on their own, and make arrangements for future sessions.
